Spear News reports that reality TV star Josephina Otabor, widely known as Phyna, and Nollywood actress Kate Henshaw earlier called for justice after a Dangote truck allegedly struck Phyna’s younger sister in Auchi, Edo State. The victim sustained critical injuries, resulting in the amputation of one leg.
The collision occurred just six days after the young woman’s graduation. Eyewitnesses report that the truck driver did not stop at the scene but was later chased down and detained by a lecturer who witnessed the incident.
In an emotional social media post, Phyna accused police of favouring the truck owner’s interests over her sister’s wellbeing.
“From all that has happened, you decided to rather tell the Nigerian police to remove the plate number on the truck that crushed my sister… Na money you get, you no be God. But my God is bigger. Enough is enough,” she wrote.
Phyna, speaking exclusively to Spear News on Wednesday, confirmed the incident. She stated that her family’s primary concerns are securing justice and ensuring her sister receives the best possible treatment to save her life
She recounted previous incidents involving Dangote trucks along the same route, emphasising the need for action to prevent such tragedies from recurring
Nollywood star, Kate Henshaw also took to social media, revealing that the truck’s license plate had been removed despite being in police custody. She alleged that officers in Auchi were refusing the family and concerned students access to the vehicle.
“This truck in police custody in Auchi has hit a young girl who just graduated 6 days ago. One leg amputated already and the other one may soon be amputated. Whoever owns the truck should own up. Justice must be served,” Henshaw stated.
The outcry came after activist Vincent (@VerryDarkMan) accused Auchi police on Wednesday of attempting to cover up the incident. He urged the students’ union to blockade the station, warning against interference in the investigation.
At the time of publication, the victim remains in a critical condition in hospital, with growing public demands for justice. Many Nigerians are calling on police to take firm action against those responsible for the incident
