The Federal High Court in Abuja on Monday, granted bail to Bello Bodejo, the National President of Miyetti Allah Kauta Kore, in the sum of N2 billion with two sureties in the like.
The conditions also attached to the bail include: Two sureties must each provide N2 billion.
- One surety must present three years of tax clearance and reside in Abuja.
- The second surety must own land worth N2 billion in Abuja.
- Bodejo must surrender his international passport to the court registrar.
- He cannot travel outside Nigeria without the court’s permission.
Justice Inyang Ekwo had on July 9, 2026, remanded Bodejo in EFCC custody after he was arraigned on a 12-count charge of alleged money laundering and terrorism financing involving 2.63 million (approx. N2 billion+).
He pleaded not guilty to all counts. The EFCC counsel, Wahab Shittu, SAN, opposed bail, but Bodejo’s lawyer, Ahmed Raji, SAN, argued the offences were bailable under the Administration of Criminal Justice Act (ACJA). Justice Ekwo agreed and exercised his discretionary power to grant bail.
The case has been adjourned to October 5, 6, and 7, 2026, for the commencement of trial.
The charges allege Bodejo received large cash payments in foreign currency (totaling 2.53–2.63 million) from a former Bauchi State Accountant-General, linked to the Bauchi State Government, without routing them through financial institutions as required by law.
This is part of a broader EFCC prosecution involving Bauchi State officials over alleged terrorism financing and money laundering.
