The Federal High Court in Abuja has adjourned the alleged terrorism trial of former Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, and his son, Abdulaziz, until March 10, 2026.
The adjournment was granted on Tuesday following an application by the Director of Public Prosecutions of the Federation, Mr. Rotimi Oyedepo. Oyedepo requested additional time for the prosecution to properly study the case file, explaining that the matter had recently been transferred to his department from the Department of State Services (DSS).
Counsel for the defendants, Mr. Adedayo Adedeji, did not oppose the request for an adjournment. However, he urged the court to strike out the case if the prosecution fails to commence trial on the next adjourned date, alleging a lack of diligent prosecution.
In her ruling, Justice Joyce Abdulmalik adjourned the matter until March 10 for trial and directed the prosecution to be prepared to open its case on that date.
