The management of BUA Group has issued a solemn statement expressing sadness and condemnation following a deadly attack on Friday, September 5, 2025, near its Okpella facility, which resulted in the death of eight security operatives and the abduction of a foreign expatriate.
The tragic incident, which occurred on the outskirts of the cement plant, targeted personnel of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).
According to the statement, a civilian driver was also killed in the assault.
In the release, the conglomerate extended its “heartfelt condolences to the families of the fallen, the NSCDC, and the Government of Nigeria.” The company also expressed its wishes for a swift recovery to any officers who were injured in the line of duty.
The statement noted “with grave concern the abduction of a foreign expatriate,” confirming that four other individuals were successfully rescued unharmed. BUA Group has pledged its full cooperation with security agencies, stating it is “working closely with them to ensure the safe return of the abducted and to bring the perpetrators of this heinous act to justice.”
The company emphasised that the safety of its employees, partners, and host communities remains its highest priority. It described the event as a “painful reminder of the sacrifices borne daily by our security personnel,” vowing that their “courage will never be forgotten.”
