Senator Ipalibo Banigo, representing Rivers West Senatorial District, has officially defected from the Peoples Democratic Party to the All Progressives Congress.
Banigo’s decision to join the ruling party is aimed at aligning politically with Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara and supporting the administration of President Bola Tinubu.
Her defection letter was read on the floor of the Senate on Tuesday by Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
The move further strengthens the APC’s presence in the Senate and marks another shift in the political landscape of Rivers State.
