The Federal Government has officially disclaimed what it described as false message circulating on social media, warning the public to disregard an alleged directive for the nationwide closure of schools.
The disclaimer was contained in a press release issued on Saturday by the Federal Ministry of Education, in which the government categorically stated that the viral message, which claims schools are to be shut down from November 24, 2025, is “false, misleading, and did not originate from the Federal Government.”

The release, signed by the Director of Press and Public Relations, Boriowo Folasade, clarified that neither the Federal Ministry of Education, any State Ministry of Education, nor any recognised security agency has issued such a directive.
The Ministry strongly advised parents, guardians, students, and school administrators to remain calm and rely strictly on information from verified official channels. These channels include:
The Federal Government, The Federal Ministry of Education, State Governments and State Ministries of Education and Recognised security agencies
The public is urged to treat any announcements or advisories from unofficial sources with skepticism and to refrain from sharing them.
“Members of the public are urged to always verify the authenticity of information before circulating it in order to curb the spread of misinformation,” the statement concluded.
The disclaimer comes as part of ongoing efforts by the government to combat kidnapping in public institutions in some part of the country.
