The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has successfully thwarted a kidnapping attempt in Guto village, a community on the outskirts of Bwari Area Council, in the early hours of 20th November 2025. At approximately 1:10 a.m., the Command received a distress call reporting that about 30 armed men had invaded the community in a bid to abduct a resident and his family.
Responding promptly, the Bwari Division’s Surveillance Team, in collaboration with the IGP Special Intervention Squad (SIS), mobilized to the scene. On encountering the police team, the attackers opened fire. The officers engaged them with superior firepower, resulting in a fierce gun duel. During the exchange, two of the assailants were neutralized, while the rest fled into the surrounding bushes and mountainous terrain.
Tragically, one police officer sustained a fatal gunshot wound and was rushed to Bwari General Hospital, where he was confirmed dead by medical personnel. The Command expressed deep sorrow over the loss, acknowledging the officer’s ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.
In response, the FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Miller G. Dantawaye psc., has deployed additional personnel to Guto village to reinforce security. He has also ordered a thorough investigation to ensure the perpetrators are tracked down and brought to justice.
The FCT Police Command reassures residents of its unwavering commitment to maintaining law and order and urges the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities.
