In a significant political realignment, Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State has officially defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The governor announced the move at a press conference held on Tuesday in Enugu, the state capital.
Governor Mbah stated that his decision was driven by a desire to better serve the people of Enugu State and to align with the APC’s vision for national development and progress. He expressed his commitment to advancing the stateโs interests, asserting that the APCโs platform would offer greater opportunities for collaboration and economic growth.
โToday, after a long period of reflection, we have decided to leave the PDP and join the APC,โ Mbah said.
The defection marks a major shift in the political landscape of the South-East region and is expected to have significant implications for the upcoming 2027 general elections.
