The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested two suspects over alleged criminal conspiracy, cheating, and forgery involving fake Civil Service Commission recruitment documents.
In a Statement signed by SP Nafiu Habib, Police Public Relations Officer, said the arrests followed a petition received on April 28, 2026, from the Office of the Head of Civil Service through the Director of Recruitment and Training, raising concerns over the circulation of fraudulent employment offers.
Acting on the complaint, the Police immediately launched an investigation which led to the arrest of Mohammed Bappa, 30, a civil servant attached to Shira Local Government Secretariat, and Aminu Nuru, 28, a café operator based in Azare town, Katagum Local Government Area.
According to the Police, credible intelligence guided detectives to search the residence of Mohammed Bappa at Kakudi area of Azare, where suspected forged documents were recovered.
Items recovered include 20 Civil Service Commission bio-data forms and five copies of alleged Offer of Temporary Appointment letters.
Preliminary investigation indicates that the documents were forged and allegedly intended for use in a recruitment scam designed to defraud unsuspecting members of the public.
The Police added that the suspects are currently in custody as investigations continue to identify possible accomplices and uncover the full extent of the operation. They will be charged to court upon completion of investigation.
The Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to fighting fraud and forgery in the state, while advising members of the public to verify recruitment information through official government channels to avoid being defrauded.
Investigations are ongoing.
