The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested four male suspects over separate cases of alleged rape, defilement of minors and sexual abuse of a vulnerable person in Ningi, Katagum, Shira and Bauchi metropolis.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Habib, disclosed this in a statement issued on Sunday, October 11, 2026, as part of the command’s efforts to combat sexual and gender-based violence across the state.
According to the statement, a 50-year-old man, identified as Musa Ibrahim, popularly known as Musa Fawa, was arrested over the alleged defilement of a 10-year-old girl in Gadar Maiwa Village, Ningi Local Government Area.
The police said the victim’s father reported on October 9 that the suspect had allegedly lured his daughter into a guinea corn farm behind their houses and sexually assaulted her.
The girl was taken to General Hospital, Ningi, for medical examination, which reportedly confirmed sexual assault. The suspect was arrested and allegedly confessed to the offence.
In a separate incident, a 20-year-old man, Yakubu Musa, was arrested over the alleged defilement of an 11-year-old girl in Azare, Katagum Local Government Area.
The statement said the victim’s father reported that the suspect had allegedly lured the girl into an empty classroom at Bakoshi Primary School, Azare, on separate occasions in September and October 2026.
The victim was taken to General Hospital, Azare, for medical examination, while the suspect was arrested and reportedly confessed to the offence.
The command also reported the arrest of a 40-year-old man, Abdullahi Sule, over the alleged defilement of a 12-year-old girl in Dago Village, Shira Local Government Area.
According to the police, the victim’s father reported the incident at Yana Police Division on October 8. Preliminary investigations reportedly revealed that the suspect had allegedly lured the girl on about four occasions, giving her ₦500 each time.
The police said the victim had been rescued and taken for medical care, while the suspect was arrested.
In another case, a 55-year-old man, identified as John Madaki, was arrested over the alleged rape of a 20-year-old woman described by the police as being of unsound mind.
The statement said the victim’s parents reported on October 10 that the suspect had allegedly lured their daughter, given her ₦1,000 and sexually assaulted her.
The victim was taken to the Police Clinic in Bauchi for medical examination, while the suspect was arrested.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, condemned the alleged offences and directed the immediate transfer of all four cases to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Bauchi, for discreet investigation and diligent prosecution.
The command reiterated its zero-tolerance stance on sexual and gender-based violence, particularly offences against minors and vulnerable persons, and urged parents and guardians to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
