Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed of Bauchi State has expressed profound grief over the passing of Alhaji Shehu Yahaya Jalam, the Permanent Secretary, Special Services, Office of the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Bauchi State, who died in the early hours of Saturday in Makkah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Alhaji Jalam, widely known as Turakin Dawakin Misau, reportedly passed away after a brief illness while participating in the 2026 Hajj pilgrimage.
According to a statement from the Bauchi State Government House signed by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Publicity, Mukhtar Gidado, Governor Mohammed described the deceased as a loyal, dedicated, and hardworking public servant whose commitment to the state remained exemplary throughout his career.
SA Media gathered that the late permanent secretary played key roles in coordinating previous Hajj exercises and successfully handled several important government responsibilities entrusted to him.
Governor Mohammed said the death of Alhaji Jalam is a painful loss not only to his family and associates but also to the Bauchi State Government and the wider community that benefited from his humility, dedication, and sense of duty.
On behalf of the government and people of Bauchi State, the governor extended heartfelt condolences to the deceased’s immediate family, the Office of the Secretary to the State Government, the Head of Civil Service, the Misau and Dambam Emirate Councils, friends, and colleagues.
SA Media further reports that funeral prayers for the late Alhaji Shehu Yahaya Jalam were scheduled to take place after Zuhur prayer at the Holy Mosque of the Ka’aba in Makkah.
Governor Bala Mohammed prayed for Almighty Allah to forgive the deceased’s shortcomings, grant him Aljannatul Firdaus, and give his family the strength and fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
