Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, has inaugurated a N7.8 billion project for the upgrade and remodeling of the State House of Assembly complex.
Speaking during the groundbreaking ceremony at the assembly ground on Tuesday, he said that the project, which has a 12-month completion, aims to provide a conducive working environment for the legislative arm.
“The complex had not been renovated in nearly 20 years and required modern facilities to enhance its effectiveness.
“The government has provided temporary office accommodation for the legislature and plans to develop housing units for the three arms of government, which will not be sold to ensure their independence and security.
“The contract for the project has been awarded to Mr. Architeronics Nigeria Limited following its track record of construction projects.” He stated.
Bala expressed gratitude to the State Assembly members for their support and cooperation, which he said has facilitated the smooth delivery of governance throughout his administration in the state.
Earlier in his remarks, Commissioner Ministry of Housing and Environment, Danlami Kawule, explained that “The project as approved by his Excellency the executive governor of Bauchi State and also rectified by the State executive council comprises the following: remodelling and renovation of the legislative complex, renovation of dilapidated administrative block, renovation of the committees building, renovation of power house and mosque.
“Others are construction of assembly services commission building, construction of the office of the honourable members, construction of the gate and gate house, rehabilitation of internal roads and drainages, completion of the rehabilitation of the perimeter fence, construction of 100 KVA solar backup power plant, rehabilitation of water system.”
He assured his ministry’s proper monitoring to deliver quality and timely projects.
Kawule emphasised that the project is planned to be executed within one year.
