Thousands of supporters of Senator Shehu Buba on Saturday thronged the All Progressives Congress (APC) Secretariat in Bauchi to declare their support for his governorship ambition in 2027.
The supporters, under the umbrella of the Shehu Buba Organisation (SBO), were drawn from the seven local government areas of Bauchi South Senatorial District. They described Senator Buba as the most qualified to succeed Governor Bala Mohammed and urged him to enter the race.
Addressing the gathering, SBO Chairman, Alhaji Ibrahim Baba, said the event was not a campaign but a show of collective resolve.
“We are here today not to campaign, but to demonstrate that Senator Buba is the best choice for governor of Bauchi State in 2027. His supporters from Bauchi South have spoken with one voice,” Baba said.
He also called on the APC leadership in Bauchi to ensure a level playing field for all aspirants ahead of the party primaries.
In his remarks, Comrade Sabo Mohammed, a prominent member of the SBO, described Senator Buba as “a force sweeping across the politics of Bauchi State.”
He argued that Buba’s support base extends beyond Bauchi South to all three senatorial zones of the state, positioning him as the most formidable APC candidate to challenge the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
“Having lost to the PDP twice, we must field a strong candidate this time. Senator Buba is the right man for the job,” Sabo said.
Responding, APC State Chairman, Alhaji Muhammed Tilde, commended the SBO for its show of solidarity. He assured that the party would provide a fair and transparent process in the build-up to the 2026 delegates’ election.
