The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has announced the postponement of the screening exercise for its presidential and governorship aspirants, originally scheduled for this weekend, to Monday, May 18, 2026.
The party disclosed this in a press release issued on Saturday by its National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi.
According to the statement, the decision to reschedule the exercise was necessitated by logistical adjustments, though the party did not provide specific reasons for the shift.
In addition to the change in date, the ADC noted that due to the prevailing security situation affecting some parts of Northern Nigeria, the screening of affected federal lawmakers’ aspirants will now take place in Abuja, rather than their respective zonal locations.
The party assured that all affected aspirants will be duly contacted with updated schedules and necessary details.
“We regret any inconvenience this adjustment may cause and appreciate the understanding and cooperation of all aspirants and stakeholders,” part of the statement read.
The ADC becomes the latest political party to adjust its primary election timetable as the 2027 general elections draw closer. Other parties have also cited security and logistical challenges in recent weeks.
Aspirants and party delegates have been advised to await further communication from the ADC national secretariat regarding specific venues and time slots for the screening.
