Abba, a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member who was recently abducted, has surfaced in a new video released by his captors, refuting earlier reports from his family that he had been killed.
The footage, which emerged on Sunday, shows Abba speaking from what appears to be the kidnappers’ hideout. In the video, he stated that the recording was made on the 19th day of Ramadan, contradicting previous fears that he might have been killed after communication with his abductors ceased.
His family had earlier announced that they feared Abba was dead, having paid a ransom of N10 million without receiving further updates from the kidnappers. In their distress, they conducted a funeral prayer in absentia (Janaza Gha’ib) in accordance with Islamic rites, following the prolonged silence from those holding him.
The newly released video, however, confirms that Abba is alive, though still in captivity. Sources familiar with the situation revealed that the abductors are continuing to make demands, including the provision of two motorcycles, as conditions for his release.
