The Rivers state chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) said the recent defections of Mr. Peter Obi, former Labour Party 2023 presidential candidate and Alhaji Rabiu Kwankwaso was not a setback but an opportunity to build a stronger and committed party machinery across the state and beyond.
Also, the ADC state hierarchy said nothing has changed as the party has ever remained more united and committed to the people.
Dr. Chukwudi Dimkpa,
State ADC Chairman-Elect disclosed this in a statement made available on Monday to newsmen in PortHarcourt, Rivers state capital.
“Part of the statement reads, My dear leaders, members, and supporters of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Rivers State, We have taken note of recent political movements at the national level, including the reported decisions by notable figures such as Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso.
“Let me state clearly and unequivocally, the ADC in Rivers State remains strong, united, and firmly committed to the people. Nothing has changed about our mission, our structure, or our resolve”.
Dimkpa explained that ADC was not built around individuals but values and collective will of the people.
“Our party is not built around individuals. It is built around values, vision, and the collective will of the people. And here in Rivers State, that will is growing stronger by the day”.
Further, the party state helmsman assured the ever growing party loyalists, supporters and members that nothing has even changed in ADC.
“This moment is not a setback, it is a defining opportunity. for us to deepen our grassroots engagement and to strengthen our structures across the 23 LGAs.
“An opportunity to present to the people a credible alternative anchored on integrity, competence, and service”.
Reflecting on the state of the state, the ADC pledged a new direction, noting that the people are tired of:broken promises, economic hardship and
political exclusion.
” The state leadership does not reflect the people’s aspirations
and, that is where the ADC comes in.We are bringing a breath of fresh air into the political space”.
Dimkpa emphasized that the ADC will offer a new hope and political solutions.
“We are offering real hope, real leadership, and real solutions.
“We are positioning ourselves as the platform for relief, progress, and inclusive governance.
“To every supporter, I say: Stay focused. Stay committed. Stay mobilized. Let no one be discouraged.
Let no one be distracted. The ADC is not just standing, the ADC is rising”.
Spear News recalls that former Rivers state governor and erstwhile Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi is among the ADC stakeholders who are eyeing the party’s 2027 presidential ticket but the party’s prevailing political calculus may nudge him into becoming the Atiku Abubakar’s presidential running mate.
