Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has declared that zoning is not part of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) game plan for the 2027 presidential election, insisting the party has no intention of restricting its ticket by geographical considerations.
Atiku made the assertion on [Day] during a visit to former military President Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida at his Hilltop residence in Minna, Niger State.
According to the former Vice President, while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has zoning provisions embedded in its constitution, the ADC operates differently.
“Zoning is not in our constitution, and it is not in our plans for the ADC presidential ticket,” Atiku said.
Despite the clarity on the party’s zoning policy, the 2023 presidential candidate stopped short of declaring whether he intends to fly the ADC flag in the next election cycle.
His visit to Babangida, a influential figure in Niger State politics, has fueled further speculation about realignments ahead of 2027.
Atiku also weighed in on the ongoing national debate regarding the electronic transmission of election results, backing the process as critical to electoral integrity.
