The verdict of the Federal High Court, Wednesday that barred the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, from recognizing the outcome of the congresses of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has compelled Atiku Abubakar, former vice president and Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi, former Rivers state Governor into holding an emergency meeting.
The unscheduled closed door meeting was said to be ongoing in the Abuja residence of Amaechi.Spear News recalls that the cancelled ADC congresses was held under the interim national leadership of Senator David Mark and Rauf Aregbesola as chairman and secretary respectively.
An insider source who, however, was cagey with the exact items on the meeting agenda told Spear News that the duo are strategizing on key political questions and, most likely to weigh on an alternative political party for the 2027 presidential race given the uncertainty surrounding the embattled African Democratic Congress, ADC.
Similarly, Rabiu Kwankwaso and Peter Obi who are planning for a joint presidential ticket under the ADC had also recently visited the National Chairman of the Nigerian Democratic Congress, NDC where they discussed issues not unconnected with political accommodation. Also, Sources close to the ADC echelon said the prevailing situation is, no doubt, putting the ADC heavyweights on the edge.
