Lere Olayinka, media aide to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has slammed Arise TV host Reuben Abati over his comments describing Wike as “rude and disrespectful” to former Transportation Minister Rotimi Amaechi, whom Abati referred to as Wike’s “boss in politics.”
During the Arise TV Morning Show earlier today, Abati slammed the FCT Minister for disparaging his predecessor, Rotimi Amaechi, over the latter’s remarks on the state of the nation.
However, in a scathing response, Olayinka accused Abati of hypocrisy, reminding him of his time as a running mate to a “fugitive wanted in America” – an apparent reference to Abati’s 2019 deputy governorship nomination alongside a controversial candidate.
Olayinka dismissed Abati’s claim that Amaechi is Wike’s political superior, arguing, “When Amaechi was a House of Assembly member, Wike was a Local Government Chairman. When Amaechi ran to Ghana in 2007, Wike was in Nigeria leading the battle to reclaim Amaechi’s mandate.”
He also took a swipe at Arise TV’s Rufai Oseni, accusing him of being a Labour Party supporter pretending to be an impartial journalist. Despite his strong rebuttal, Olayinka sarcastically added, “But I will still not talk,” suggesting he was holding back to avoid being accused of disrespecting elders.
