The newly installed Okuokpellagbe of Okpella, His Royal Majesty Engineer Mike Sado, has received congratulatory messages from prominent political leaders following his coronation on Saturday, May 10, 2025.
In an official statement released Monday, All Progressives Congress (APC) Edo State Chairman, Chief Jarrett Tenebe, charged the monarch to rule with the fear of God and wisdom as he assumes leadership of the historic kingdom.
Tenebe said: “Your emergence as the Paramount Ruler of the industrious, resilient, and culturally rich people of Okpella marks the dawn of a new era in the illustrious history of the kingdom. It is not only a reflection of divine grace but also the manifestation of the trust, love, and expectations of your people who look up to you for guidance, protection, and visionary leadership.
“As you mount the revered throne of your illustrious ancestors, you inherit a legacy steeped in tradition, wisdom, and the sacred responsibility of fostering unity, promoting peace, and upholding the dignity of the Okpella people both at home and in the diaspora. Indeed, the Okuokpellagbe stool is a beacon of our shared heritage, and in you, we see a leader destined to rekindle the pride and glory of Okpella Kingdom.
“Your Majesty, in the journey ahead, I enjoin you to let patience be your compass, wisdom your guide, and justice your watchword. As the old African adage goes, “The strength of a king is not only in his crown but in the peace and unity that reign under his watch.” May your reign be marked by wisdom that soothes, courage that uplifts, and decisions that heal and unite, he praid.
In a separate message personally issued by Senator Andy Uba, the Anambra born politician and businessman, congratulated the new king, praising the coronation as “a proud celebration of tradition and the bright future ahead under your wise leadership.
He described his selection as the Okuokpellagbe of Okpella by the people of Okpella as a symbol of the trust and confidence placed in him by the community.
“Your selection by the people and elders of Okpella speaks volumes about the trust they have in your wisdom, integrity, and dedication to service. This is no ordinary honour, it is a sacred duty, a calling to uphold the rich heritage of your ancestors while guiding your people toward unity, progress, and lasting prosperity”.
While expressing confidence in the monarch’s ability to rule with fairness and compassion, he reminded him of the sacred responsibility entrusted to him.
“As you take on this noble role, I have no doubt that your reign will be marked by fairness, compassion, and visionary leadership. The throne you now occupy is a symbol of both tradition and transformation, and I am confident that you will balance these responsibilities with grace. May your wisdom bring harmony, your decisions foster development, and your presence inspire pride in every son and daughter of Okpella”, he said.
Both leaders prayed for the monarch’s long, peaceful, and prosperous reign, wishing him strength, good health, and divine guidance. They also expressed optimism that his leadership would bring harmony, development, and pride to Okpella
