The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced a planned five-hour maintenance exercise at its Suleja 330/132/33kV Transmission Substation, which will temporarily disrupt electricity supply to parts of Abuja and surrounding areas.
The maintenance is scheduled to take place on Saturday, March 22, 2025, from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm
In a statement issued by Ndidi Mbah, General Manager of Public Affairs, TCN explained that the exercise is necessary to replace a faulty circuit breaker at the substation. This will affect bulk power supply to the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC), impacting customers in areas such as Gwagwalada, Abaji, and Kwali.
The TCN assured residents that the maintenance work is a routine preventive measure aimed at improving the reliability and efficiency of the power transmission infrastructure. Power supply is expected to be restored immediately after the completion of the exercise.
“We regret any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate the understanding of our customers as we work to ensure a more stable power supply in the long term,” the statement read.
Residents and businesses in the affected areas are advised to make necessary preparations for the temporary outage. The TCN also urged customers to report any prolonged power disruptions beyond the scheduled period to their respective distribution companies.
This maintenance exercise is part of TCN’s ongoing efforts to upgrade and maintain Nigeria’s power transmission network, ensuring improved service delivery across the country.
