The federal lawmaker representing Bogoro, Dass, and Tafawa Balewa in Bauchi State, Hon. Jafaru Leko, has distributed N50 million worth of food and cash to his constituents in preparation for the Eid El-Kabir festivities.
The distribution, which was done in Bauchi on Wednesday, was organized to assist families in celebrating the religious holiday amid the current economic hardship.
Alhaji Jibrin Hassan, who chaired the distribution committee, explained that the relief included food items worth N30 million and N20 million in direct financial assistance.
“The aim is to reduce the pressure many families feel during this period and to ensure that everyone has something to celebrate with.
“This is not just about giving—it’s about standing in solidarity with the people in times of need.” Hassan noted.
The beneficiaries included a broad spectrum of the constituency’s population: Muslims and Christians, women and youth groups, APC supporters, and ordinary residents across the three local governments.
Mr. Rabiu Garba, APC Legal Adviser in Bauchi State, described Leko as a dedicated public servant. “He’s a consistent giver and builder.
“His support programs, job creation efforts, and infrastructure interventions have touched nearly every corner of the constituency,” he said.
Mrs. Zuwaira Yakubu, a prominent women leader and beneficiary, expressed heartfelt gratitude.
“This means a lot. Times are hard, and this support will help families like mine have a joyful Sallah. Hon. Leko always remembers us,” she said.
