Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has stated that the decision to seek a second term in office rests with God.
He made the remark on Saturday during a grand civic reception and appreciation ceremony organised by the Oha Isiala Ngwa people of Isiala Ngwa North and South Local Government Areas, in recognition of his performance in the councils.
Amid calls for his re-election in 2027 and widespread endorsements, Otti said that his second term bid would be determined by divine will, noting that he would seek God’s guidance before making a decision.
While expressing gratitude for the public support, Otti said: “While I thank you for this endorsement, and because I see it as an endorsement of what has been achieved so far, I also thank you for making predictions.
“I would only say that, I would go back and consult with my God. As time goes on, my response will be made public. I know my people are waiting.”
Otti stated that his administration’s investment in Aba was based on the town’s potential to spur the state’s economic growth.
He reiterated his government’s dedication to ensuring inclusive governance.
The governor also emphasised that the choice of Nsulu as the site for the proposed Abia airport was solely due to technical merits, rather than political motives.
He confirmed that affected landowners had already been compensated and explained that the project was not merely an aviation facility but a comprehensive development hub designed to deliver long-term economic benefits to residents.
He said: “We have paid 100 per cent compensation to everybody whose land was affected. If there’s anyone that has not been paid, it is not our fault.
“Maybe, they provided a wrong account number or three or four people are struggling for the same space”.
