Edo State Governor, His Excellency Monday Okpebholo, has called on parents and guardians to actively discourage their children from joining cult groups, emphasizing the need to protect the future of young Nigerians.
The call was contained in a heartfelt Children’s Day message, in which the Governor described children as the “leaders of tomorrow” and reiterated his administration’s dedication to their education, safety, and overall development.
Governor Okpebholo highlighted key government initiatives, including the ongoing renovation of public schools under the state’s education emergency declaration, strengthened child protection laws, and youth empowerment programs aimed at curbing cultism and violence.
He urged parents, teachers, and community leaders to guide children with strong moral values while encouraging young people to pursue their dreams through education and hard work.
“Our children are our most precious assets, and their dreams will shape Edo State’s future,” the Governor said. “We must collectively steer them away from destructive influences and provide the support they need to succeed.”
