…Warns against “malicious misinformation” targeting Gov Uba Sani
The Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Kaduna State chapter, has debunked claims that Governor Uba Sani approved N4.6 billion for vehicle purchases for Local Government Chairmen, describing the allegation as “false and fabricated.”
The rebuttal follows a viral post by one Imrana Wakili (@IU_Wakili) on X (formerly Twitter), which alleged the approval of the expenditure.
ALGON, in a press release signed by its spokesperson, Muhammad Lawal Shehu, dismissed the document cited in the claim as a “misleading fabrication” designed to tarnish the governor’s reputation.
The statement emphasised Governor Sani’s commitment to fiscal responsibility, stating: “Governor Uba Sani has consistently prioritized cost-cutting measures since assuming office. This baseless claim is nothing but clickbait for malicious actors seeking to undermine his administration.”
ALGON condemned the spread of misinformation as “a threat to public peace and democratic governance,” demanding an immediate retraction and public apology from Wakili. Failure to comply within seven (7) days, it warned, would result in legal action.
The rebuttal comes as Kaduna marks Governor Sani’s two-year anniversary in office, with ALGON accusing detractors of attempting to overshadow his achievements. The association urged the public to disregard the claim and warned against further “irresponsible dissemination of falsehoods.”
