The Chairman, free medical outreach group of Senator Shehu Buba Umar, Comrade Yusuf Aliyu Fada has said they are withdrawing their support to the Senator’s gubernatorial ambition come 2027.
However in a swift reaction,an aide to the Senator had asked for more time and with patience, they will get what they want.
Comrade Fada stated their position today when he addressed a Press conference in Bauchi, He alleged that ” For over a year, our dedicated team, comprising medical doctors, nurses, midwives, community health practitioners, medical records personnel, medical laboratory scientists, environmental health practitioners, and our over ten thousand (10,000) members across the 20 Local Government Areas of Bauchi State, has worked tirelessly. Our mission has been clear: to reach the unreached communities with vital free medical services, and in doing so, to support the governorship movement of Senator Shehu Buba.”
He said “We have operated with a clear strategy, believing in the importance of grassroots engagement and the well-being of our people. To that end, we have selflessly utilized our personal funds to conduct crucial medical outreaches, in Sabon Garin Nabordo of Toro LGA, our team treated 153 individuals, addressing various medical needs of women, children, and the elderly, in Bidir of Katagum LGA, we expanded our care to another 171 people, again focusing on the health of women, children, and our senior citizens, and during the critical cholera outbreak that ravaged Bauchi State in August of 2024, the Sen. Shehu Buba Free Medical Outreach Team stepped forward. Using our own resources, we undertook well chlorination, distributed aqua tablets – vital for water purification – to over 100 households, conducted essential fumigation in affected communities, and held crucial sensitization campaigns in Gwallagan Mayaki, Kofar Fada Primary School, Yakubiyatul Islam, and Madarasatul Aunin Islam Bauchi.”
Comrade Fada alleged that “All these impactful services, conducted with the personal funds of our members, were carried out with the clear intention of promoting the governorship movement of Senator Shehu Buba.However, despite our dedication and the tangible impact of our work, we have faced a deeply displeasing on reality. For over a year, we have made repeated attempts, through written requests and persistent follow-ups with Senator Shehu Buba’s aides and close associates, individuals to secure an audience with Senator Buba himself. Regrettably, these efforts have been consistently unsuccessful”.
He said “It is particularly eroding to note that other organizations, whose relevance to the movement we question, have seemingly been granted access that has been denied to our dedicated medical team. This has led us to the undeniable conclusion that our services are no longer valued or deemed necessary within the Shehu Buba governorship movement. The repeated failure to grant us an audience speaks volumes.”
Fada said , “after careful deliberation and with heavy hearts, the leadership of this great movement has reached the following resolutions, effective immediately, we hereby announce the withdrawal of our support from the governorship candidacy of Senator Shehu Buba, and declare the Sen. Shehu Buba Free Medical Outreach Team as voided. Drawing upon our expertise as professionals in the medical and health sectors, we have identified a clear incompetency within Sen. Shehu Buba’s 2027 governorship movement regarding its understanding and planning for the healthcare sector”.
“we are pleading with Senator Shehu Buba, as a man of God, to refund the sum of 7.6 million naira only, which represents the pocket money our members have selflessly spent in the service of his governorship movement. looking towards the future and our continued commitment to the well-being of Bauchi State, we are proud to announce our endorsement of Dr. Ibrahim Ali Usman as our Bauchi South senatorial candidate for the 2027 elections”.
“we are calling upon all our loyal and dedicated members across the 20 Local Government Areas of Bauchi State to remain calm and steadfast. We will, with renewed determination, identify and support a governorship candidate who recognizes our value and provides us with the necessary support to achieve our goals for a healthier Bauchi State.”
In his reaction an aide to Senator Shehu Buba, Alhaji Lalaye said “Our attention was drawn on the alleged Press briefing from the Volunteers in Public health , Alhamdulillahi not all of them are in the support of the views of people that do the Press conference, majority of them are with our leader Senator Shehu Buba Umar, because they know what he is doing to the people of Bauchi State in terms of medical assistance and other human, capital empowerment and provision of infrastructures”
“They are working voluntarily and that they are doing a voluntary work and merged their work with support to Senator Shehu Buba, they are partners in progress with the Senator service to humanity”
Lalaye said Let me correct the impression in the Politics of Senator Shehu Buba Umar
There will be no discrimination against any body or group because he promised to work for those who voted for him, those who voted against him and those who did not vote at all, he listened to all even in an open space, he is working as a representative of Bauchi South and Bauchi North and Bauchi central as the only APC Senator in Bauchi State”
” If he was not listening how did their leader claimed that he has spoken with him in the emirs Palace during eid el fitr celebration?”
Senator Shehu harboured no ill-will against anyone despite the difference in political ideologies, he extended a hand of friendship to all
“Go to his house and see for yourself how he used to receive thousands of people daily for 24 hours in his house from morning till night and only Allah knows the people that Senator Shehu Buba paid their medical bills for both major and minors surgeries across the 20 local Government Areas in the State”
The Volunteers need to be patient they are in the queve , if they make attempt to see him today if they didn’t see him they should be patient tomorrow is another day,bSenator Shehus love and concern for the Bauchi State and what he desire for it extend to all, even to those who do not like us or our politics. They are all his people because he treat everyone as his own.
Senator Shehu is a human being he is not above mistakes, people should be patient and join hands with his good effort to succeed.
“Even though they have right to be where they want to be it’s better for them to stay with Senator Shehu than to go to any house , because there is no politician like Senator Shehu that love people, care for the people assist the people in Bauchi State”
“We all know in the journey of politics Along the way, there will be victories but there may also be setbacks. Mistakes will be made. But Senator Shehu shall never take people for granted; so, be rest assured that even if there is mistake somewhere the errors will be those of compassion and commitment not of willful neglect and indifference and Shehu every day treat thousands of people in Bauchi without discrimination”
“I realise that the expectation of our people is as high and the commitment of Shehu to bring succour to their problems is also very high, that was the reason why supporters of Senator and their belief in his has been strong and unshaken. The Volunteers should be patient andmore realistics in their expectations and more patience, We urge all Bauchi People to continue to exhibit patience and decorum and to be peaceful and orderly because these are essential requirement of a successful conduct of any activity.”
