Lere Olayinka, a media aide to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has criticised the immediate past Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, over his remarks against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s government, describing him as a man without shame.
In a post on his social media handle on Sunday, Lere stated that Amaechi had spent 23 years in government yet was still blaming the government for his problems.
“Since 1999, Rotimi Amaechi has only been out of government for just TWO YEARS,” he wrote.
“Rotimi Amaechi said he is hungry, and you are supporting him just because you dislike those in power now. Interesting.
“After spending 23 years in government, 8 years as Speaker, 8 years as Governor, and 7 years as Minister, Amaechi is still blaming the government. Some people really have no shame”, he added.
Lere’s attack on Amaechi came in response to the former Rivers State governor’s remarks during his 60th birthday celebration in Abuja, where he lamented the state of the nation, claiming he was hungry.
Amaechi had said: “We are all hungry. All of us are. If you are not hungry, I am. So, for us in the opposition, if you want us to remove the man in power (Tinubu), we can remove him.”
He further recounted an experience during one of his trips abroad:
“If you’re not ashamed, I am. My passport was seized in Germany; my only offence was that I was carrying a green passport. They detained me for nearly 30 minutes while I was on my way to a medical checkup in Vienna…”
