Former President Muhammadu Buhari has extended his congratulations to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as his administration marks its second year in office.
In a statement by Garba Shehu, spokesman to the former president, Buhari emphasised that governance is a continuous process and called for sustained public support for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) government.
He acknowledged that meaningful reforms take time, urging Nigerians to remain patient as policies unfold.
The ex-president also issued a caution against allowing vital reforms to be undermined by divisive political manoeuvring. While expressing support for Tinubu’s efforts to tackle poverty and inflation, which disproportionately affect the most vulnerable, he stressed that addressing these challenges cannot rest on government action alone.
“Necessary reforms and desired changes must not fall victim to nettlesome domestic politics. The private sector and all of us as citizens must join in all ways we can.”
He urged Nigerians to remain optimistic and stay confident about the country’s future.
“Our expectations from our governments should not get heavy,” President Buhari said in the conclusion of his message.
“I am wishing President Tinubu heartfelt congratulations on his two years in office. May you keep leading with wisdom and care.”
