President Bola Tinubu has vowed that the gunmen responsible for the deadly attacks on communities in Plateau State will be apprehended and face the full wrath of the law.
The President expressed his deepest sympathies to the families of the victims in Ruwi, Hurti, and Tadai communities in Bokkos Local Government, as well as those in Manguna and Dafo villages, where assailants carried out brutal assaults, leaving many dead and properties destroyed.
In a statement by Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu extended his condolences to the Plateau State Government and Governor Caleb Mutfwang, urging affected communities to assist security agencies by providing vital information to track down the perpetrators. He assured Governor Mutfwang of the federal government’s full support in ending the cycle of violence in the region.
The President has also directed the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to collaborate with state authorities in delivering immediate relief to the wounded and displaced, as well as aiding the recovery and rebuilding of affected areas.
“The news of yet another violent attack on defenceless citizens in Plateau State is deeply distressing,” President Tinubu stated. “These senseless acts of brutality have no place in our nation, especially at a time when we are striving to restore peace and security across the country. I have ordered security forces to hunt down those responsible, and they will face severe consequences for their crimes.”
He further emphasised that such tragedies would not deter the government’s commitment to protecting all Nigerians, adding: “We will intensify our efforts to root out the forces of evil wherever they may hide. Our hearts go out to the grieving families, and we stand united in condemning this violence. I call on all citizens—irrespective of ethnicity, religion, or political affiliation—to embrace peace, reject reprisals, and uphold our shared humanity.”
