The House of Representatives has summoned the country’s service chiefs and National Security Adviser (NSA) Nuhu Ribadu to appear before parliament over the rising wave of insecurity plaguing the nation.
The resolution was passed during Tuesday’s plenary following the adoption of a motion sponsored by Sulaiman Gumi, who represents the Gummi/Bukkuyum federal constituency of Zamfara state.
Gumi and other lawmakers expressed concern over recent deadly attacks, banditry, and kidnappings across multiple states, arguing that the current security architecture is failing to protect citizens.
The service chiefs and the NSA are expected to brief the green chamber on their strategies and actions taken to curb the crisis. A date for the appearance is yet to be announced.
