Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has pledged to provide pipe-borne water across communities in the state as part of his administration’s commitment to improving the welfare of residents.
Governor Okpebholo made this promise at Ewatto in Esan South-East Local Government Area during the opening of a two-day reception held in his honour by Chief (Dr.) Leemon Ikpea, FNSE, CON, JP — a distinguished son of Ewatto, renowned oil and gas engineer, industrialist, and philanthropist.
Reflecting on his childhood experiences, the governor underscored the importance of clean water supply alongside other developmental projects.
“We are already putting things in place to make sure we have pipe-borne water. It is not going to be roads only, it is not going to be schools only, it’s not going to be healthcare only, water must flow,” he declared to an enthusiastic crowd.
Governor Okpebholo expressed deep appreciation to Chief Ikpea for his unwavering support during his journey to the Edo Government House. He also reassured the people of Edo State, particularly the Esan people, of his commitment to delivering good governance.
“I am proud to be an Esan man,” the governor said, adding that his administration will ensure the people do not regret entrusting him with leadership.
Speaking on the political landscape, Okpebholo lauded the All Progressives Congress (APC), describing it as the “winning party” that continues to attract widespread support.
“I am happy today that I find myself in a winning party. Today, everybody is running to APC,” he enthused.
He further highlighted his alignment with the leadership at the federal level, expressing admiration for the developmental strides of notable APC figures.
“The government at the centre is APC, and that is why today I am proud to say that I am also a son to the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
I am also proud to say I live in uncommon grace of uncommon transformation. So when I look at my back, I see those that have developed their states like Wike; when I look at my left, I see somebody like Akpabio that has also developed his state. Why will I not develop Edo State?” Okpebholo stated confidently.
The event, marked by fanfare and cultural displays, attracted political leaders, community stakeholders, and well-wishers who celebrated the governor’s commitment to progress and development.
