The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd) has announced a scheduled maintenance shutdown of the Port Harcourt Refining Company (PHRC) beginning today, 24 May 2025.
In a press release signed by Chief Corporate Communications Officer Olufemi Soneye, the national oil company stated the shutdown will allow for essential maintenance and sustainability assessments at the facility.
NNPC Ltd confirmed it is working closely with regulatory authorities, including the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), to ensure the maintenance activities are conducted efficiently and transparently.
The company reiterated its dedication to maintaining Nigeria’s energy security, describing the maintenance exercise as critical for sustainable operations.
“NNPC Ltd remains steadfast in its commitment to delivering sustainable energy security for Nigeria,” the statement read.
The corporation promised regular updates through its official communication channels, including its website and media platforms, to keep the public informed about progress.
The Port Harcourt refinery, one of Nigeria’s largest refining facilities, has undergone several rehabilitation efforts in recent years as part of the federal government’s refinery restoration programme.
