In a major cabinet reshuffle, Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani has announced key appointments and redeployments, including the creation of a new Ministry of Information.
The governor named renowned energy scholar Prof. Abubakar Sani Sambo as the new Commissioner of Education, while redeploying the outgoing education commissioner, Prof. Sani Bello (Mainan Zazzau), to head the newly established ministry.
The changes, which take immediate effect, also saw the appointment of Barrister Gloria Ibrahim as Commissioner for Youth Development. Governor Sani expressed confidence that the new appointees would drive his administration’s agenda in education, youth empowerment, and public communication.
Prof. Sambo, an accomplished academic and administrator, brings decades of experience to the role. A former Vice Chancellor of Kaduna State University and Bauchi State University, he also served as Director-General of the Energy Commission of Nigeria and Special Adviser to the President on Energy. His expertise is expected to revitalise the state’s education sector, with a focus on infrastructure, teacher training, ICT integration, and girl-child education.
Meanwhile, Barrister Gloria Ibrahim, a seasoned legal practitioner and mediator, will oversee youth development initiatives. A graduate of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, she has been tasked with designing innovative programmes to empower Kaduna’s youth in an increasingly technology-driven world.
Governor Sani congratulated the appointees and urged them to deliver impactful results in their new roles.
The creation of the Information Ministry signals a renewed push for effective communication of government policies, with Prof. Bello expected to bring his administrative experience to bear in shaping the state’s public engagement strategy.
