Pledges mother of all mobilizations for President, hails Wike’s performance
Members of the National Assembly from Rivers State have pledged their full support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s reelection in 2027, commending his leadership and economic policies as Nigeria’s best path forward.
The declaration came in a joint statement signed by nine federal lawmakers from the state, including Senators Barry Mpigi (Rivers South-East) and Allwell Onyesoh (Rivers East), along with House of Representatives members Rt. Hon. Dumnamene Dekor, Rep. Solomon Bob (Abua/Odual-Ahoada East), Rep. Felix Nwaeke (Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni), Rep. Kelechi Nwogu (Omuma), Rep. Cyril Hart (Port Harcourt II), Rep. Victor Obuzor (Ikwerre/Emohua), and Rep. Blessing Amadi (Port Harcourt I).
The lawmakers expressed appreciation for President Tinubu’s appointment of their political leader, former Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike, as Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, noting Tinubu’s recent praise of Wike as the “Master of Infrastructure.”
They stated that after carefully reviewing the President’s economic policies under the Renewed Hope Agenda, they were convinced these measures offer the most viable solution to Nigeria’s economic challenges.
They hailed Wike’s performance, referencing Tinubu’s recent description of him as the “Master of Infrastructure.”
“We are gladdened by the President’s public acknowledgement of the exceptional performance of the Minister of FCT,” the statement read. “Having carefully reviewed the President’s economic policies under the Renewed Hope Agenda, we believe they offer the best path to economic recovery.”
Acknowledging the difficult economic situation Tinubu inherited, including the N22.7 trillion Ways and Means overdraft from the Central Bank between 2015-2023, the lawmakers argued that current reforms are beginning to yield positive results.
They pointed to declining inflation rates, reduced foreign debt, and promising IMF growth projections as evidence that the administration’s policies are working.
The caucus vowed to mobilize massively for Tinubu’s 2027 campaign, declaring their intention to “begin the mother of all mobilizations” to secure an even greater victory than in 2023. They called on other potential presidential candidates to set aside their ambitions and support Tinubu’s reelection for the sake of national stability and progress.
The statement also thanked the President for his intervention in Rivers State’s political crisis, expressing hope that his efforts would lead to lasting peace. While not directly mentioning the ongoing tensions between Wike and Governor Sim Fubara, the lawmakers emphasized the need for “sincerity of purpose” in resolving conflicts.
