Governor Umo Eno on Sunday officially commissioned the 23.25km Ikot Ekaide-Ikot Okoro-Ikot Ibritam road in Oruk Anam Local Government Area. The project, inherited at 50% completion from former Governor Udom Emmanuel, is expected to boost economic activities in the agrarian communities.
“This road marks a major economic breakthrough for the people of Oruk Anam and other parts of the State,” Governor Eno said during the inauguration ceremony.

The infrastructure, featuring two bridges, will enhance trade and open up access to Rivers, Bayelsa, Abia, and other Niger-Delta states, according to local stakeholders.
Governor Eno highlighted Oruk Anam’s significance as the hometown of his Chief Campaigner and former First Lady, Deaconess Martha Udom Emmanuel. He reassured residents that despite extensive infrastructure development, his administration has not borrowed from any financial institution.
“Our administration is committed to private sector-minded governance and creating opportunities for youth development,” the Governor stated.
The Chairman of Oruk-Anam, Sunday Festus Akpan, commended the Governor for ongoing infrastructure developments in the area. Commissioner for Works, Prof. Eno Ibanga, detailed how the project had been segmented and reawarded to two different contractors due to construction challenges.
As part of their corporate social responsibility, Amitec Construction Company announced plans to build water projects in villages along the road and sponsor Akwa Ibom youths in the Dakadda Skills Acquisition Centre. The company also pledged to donate 50,000 exercise books to schools across the state.
