Nollywood actress Dayo Amusa has shared her thoughts on the ongoing family dispute between rising music star, Asake and his father, Fatai Odunsi.
In a heartfelt social media post on Saturday, Amusa highlighted the lasting impact of parental absence and emotional neglect, emphasizing that neither fame nor wealth can fully mend the scars of a difficult childhood.
Amusa reflected on Asake’s journey, recalling her earlier observations about the singer’s tattoo-covered face. “When Asake began covering his face in tattoos, I thought it was either a rebranding move or a way to mask a pain he wasn’t ready to face,” she wrote.
While addressing rumours of Asake’s father being absent and his mother being overly strict, Amusa chose not to pass judgment. Instead, she emphasized that the singer deserves compassion and understanding, not public criticism. She also called on parents to be actively involved in their children’s lives, providing love and guidance before the world steps in to shape their identities.
In her post, Amusa wrote:
“Asake’s childhood remains shrouded in mystery—some say his father was absent, others claim his mother was harsh. But I won’t judge a father who left or a mother who did what she could. What matters is that Asake deserves love, not a public spectacle.
“Fame doesn’t heal the wounds of parental rejection. A child raised on ‘I love you’ navigates life differently than one who hears, ‘I want nothing to do with you.’ Some wounds money cannot fix—only deep, intentional healing can. Rather than judge, I choose to send love to this remarkable artist.
“To parents: Be present. Be the voice your child hears before the world tries to define them. A child who feels truly seen and loved at home has less to prove to the world. As someone who has experienced similar struggles, I can relate. I wish him well.”
Amusa’s message serves as a poignant reminder of the enduring impact of parental love—or the lack thereof—on a child’s life.
