Delta State Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Mr. Ejiroghene Praise Akpomedaye, has dismissed a viral video about the recent visit of First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu.
Speaking at a press conference in Asaba, he stated that the video did not accurately represent events. He clarified that the First Lady never visited the State College of Nursing, Agbor, where the footage allegedly originated.
“A viral video recently surfaced regarding the visit of the President’s wife. Let me state categorically that the First Lady didn’t visit the school of nursing in Agbor,” Akpomedaye said.
He explained that during the event, some nurses had expectations regarding the distribution of medical kits. The First Lady apologized, noting that the donations were specifically for midwives at that stage. She assured nurses that they would receive theirs in due time through the Renewed Hope Initiative.
Although some nurses were disappointed, there was no hostility or bullying. Initially, they were welcoming, happy, and even danced while cheering the First Lady. A few playfully expressed their feelings by singing a different tune.
Akpomedaye stated that certain individuals misrepresented the event on social media. “The viral video does not reflect the true atmosphere or what transpired at the gathering,” he concluded.
