Media mogul and political commentator, Chief Dele Momodu, has commended President Bola Tinubu for intervening to stop the sealing of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Secretariat and other properties in Abuja by the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike.
Dele Momodu in his post on his social media handles on Tuesday,
thanked Tinubu for stepping in, saying the president’s action proved that “there is only one President in Nigeria.”
Earlier on Monday, Wike had ordered the sealing of the PDP secretariat and other properties over alleged tax and land use violations. The move sparked accusations of political vendetta, given Wike’s history as a former PDP chieftain before defecting to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Momodu, while acknowledging that “no one should condone non-compliance with government obligations,” criticized Wike’s approach as “vindictive” and warned that the minister was becoming “a liability” to Tinubu’s administration.
The publisher of Ovation Magazine also urged Tinubu to rein in Wike’s political maneuvers in Rivers State, where the minister has been locked in a fierce power struggle with Governor Simi Fubara.
“How I wished you had stopped his reckless disruption in Rivers State,” Momodu wrote, lamenting the “emergency rule” atmosphere in the oil-rich state.
Momodu praised Tinubu’s intervention as a strong signal that “Wike has a boss,” contrasting the FCT minister’s “tautological press conferences” with the “humble” demeanor of Works Minister, Dave Umahi.
“There can’t be two captains in one ship,” Momodu declared, expressing hope that Wike “got the message loud and clear.”
