The annual National Qur’anic Recitation Competition of Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi Foundation (SDUB), has commenced in Bauchi.
The Conference hall of Sheikh Dahiru Islamic Centre, venue of the competition in Bauchi has in attendance students, Qur’anic scholars and people from across various walks of life within and outside the state.
Director Education of the Foundation, Sidi Aliyu Sise Dahiru said The week-long competition will draw participants from selected Qur’anic Schools under the Foundation from 6 states out of the over 700 branches across the country,
Dahiru who was represented by Sayyadi Dahiru Isa Madugu explained that the participants comprised of competitors in 4 categories of 20 hizbs, 30 hizbs, 40 hizbs and 60 hizbs in both males and females categories.
Director said “Not less than 300 Quranic students from six northern states have converged in Bauchi State for the second edition of the Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi Foundation Qur’anic Recitation Competition.
The States comprises of Bauchi, Gombe, Kano, Katsina, Niger, and Kaduna “.
Representative of a reknown Islamic Scholar Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi, Sayyadi Tijjani Dahiru, stressed the importance of the competition and encouraged students to adopt the Qur’an as their lifelong guide, emphasizing the importance of continual recitation and memorization for moral and spiritual development.
Speaking at the event, Malam Abdullahi Ismail, Secretary of Education of the Foundation, said that the competition is aimed at promoting the correct recitation of the Qur’an as it was revealed to Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W).
He said that the event also serves to boost the morale and commitment of students of the Qur’an.
“The Foundation initiated this annual Qur’anic Recitation Competition Musabaqa which also includes components of Fiqh, Tauhid, and Sira, for students across Nigeria and neighboring countries.
“It is designed to deepen Islamic education and elevate Quranic literacy,” Ismail said.
He said the annual event will continue in subsequent years, Insha Allah, to further strengthen the foundation of Islamic education across the region.
Bauchi State Commissioner of Religious Affairs Engineer Muhammad Binni Abdulkadir, who was represented by the Chairman Bauchi State Qur’anic Competition Committee, Sheikh Hassan Usman Zango assured Government support to all religious programmes and commended the organisers for a Job Weldone.
Three papers were presented by different scholars Dr Muhammad Mujtaba Abdulkadir spoke on the importance of supporting Qur’anic competition institution towards the development of Islamic education and Muslim Community.
Alaramma Sanusi Adamu spoke on the importance of learning Tajweed to the reciters and Quranic memorisers.
Sheikh Imam Hassan Zango Presented a papers on the how Quranic competition help in the development of Qur’anic education in Nigeria.
