The All Progressives Congress (APC) has released its schedule of activities for the 2026 Area Council elections in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, with chairmanship aspirants required to pay a total of N20 million for nomination and expression of interest forms.
The notice, issued from the party’s National Secretariat, outlined key dates, eligibility rules, and fees for candidates seeking office in the upcoming polls.
The electoral process began with the official notice of election issued to the FCT Chapter on Tuesday, 20 May 2025. The party has mandated an update of its membership register from 22 to 28 May, stressing that only fully registered and financially up-to-date members will be eligible to participate in the primaries.
Nomination and expression of interest forms for chairmanship and councillorship positions will be sold from 22 to 28 May, with completed submissions due by 29 May. Screening of aspirants will take place on 16 June, with results published the following day. Appeals against screening decisions will be heard on 18 June.
The party’s delegate congress is scheduled for 21 June, with appeals to be resolved by 23 June. The primary election will hold on 25 June, and any disputes will be addressed by 27 June.
In addition to the N20 million fee for chairmanship aspirants, councillorship candidates are required to pay N2.5 million in total.
Female aspirants and persons with disabilities (PWDs) are exempted from paying for the nomination form, while youth between the ages of 25 and 40 will receive a 50 per cent discount on the nomination fee.
Prospective candidates are directed to collect their forms from the Directorate of Organisation on the second floor of the APC National Headquarter.
