The Edo State government has announced the appointment of 18 new Chief Inspectors of Education (CIEs) across the eighteen Local Government Areas in a bid to boost educational oversight and delivery.
Dr. Paddy Iyamu, the Edo State Commissioner for Education announced the new appointments at the Ministry of Education’s premises in Benin City, on Wednesday.
He said, “These appointments are part of our broader vision to decentralize education management and bring accountability and innovation closer to the communities.
“We expect the new CIEs to be proactive, transparent and dedicated to improving educational outcomes”.
He also reiterated the government’s firm stance against absenteeism, examination malpractice, and inadequate infrastructure in schools.
According to him, “The CIEs must not only act as inspectors but also as change agents in their Areas”.
The ceremony was attended by the Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Edith Ebomoyi of the Ministry of Education and various stakeholders in the education sector.
