United States President Donald Trump signed an executive order on Thursday aimed at dismantling the country’s Department of Education.
However, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt clarified that the department would not be entirely eliminated. Leavitt emphasized that its “critical functions,” such as enforcing civil rights laws and overseeing student loans and Pell grants, would continue to operate.
The move signals a significant restructuring of the federal education system under the Trump administration.
