An explosion has occurred at the Trans-Niger Pipeline in Bodo, located in the Gokana Local Government Area of Rivers State.
The affected section of the pipeline is currently engulfed in flames, with the exact cause of the explosion still unclear, says report.
Authorities are investigating whether the incident was caused by human interference, particularly in light of recent threats from militant groups to target oil infrastructure.
These threats were made in response to the Federal Government’s decision to withhold Rivers State’s allocation amid the ongoing political crisis.
The explosion reportedly took place on Monday night along the crucial pipeline, which is responsible for transporting crude oil to the Bonny Terminal.
