President Bola Tinubu has made it clear that his focus remains firmly on revitalizing Nigeria’s economy and improving the lives of its citizens, rather than engaging in political maneuvering for the 2027 elections
Mr. Sunday Dare, Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Media and Public Communications, revealed that the president is not concerned about the next election cycle but is instead dedicated to ensuring that his policies deliver tangible benefits to Nigerians.
In a Friday night post on his X page, Dare highlighted the significant economic strides made under Tinubu’s leadership, including a rise in foreign reserves, a reduction in inflation, increased exports, and a surge in foreign investments exceeding $50 billion.
“President Tinubu is not worried about the next election. He’s worried about the shared prosperity that he can bring to Nigerians,” Dare wrote. “He’s focused on how the reforms he has implemented will yield the necessary impact. His concern is the future of Nigeria’s economy and the well-being of its people. That’s where his energy is directed.”
Dare’s remarks come at a time of heightened political activity, with opposition figures and former allies beginning to form coalitions to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 polls. Notably, former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, a founding member of the APC, recently defected to the Social Democratic Party (SDP) following reported disagreements with Tinubu’s administration.
Despite these political shifts, Tinubu’s team remains confident in his ability to steer the country toward economic stability and growth. Dare pointed to clear data showing improvements in key economic indicators, including a drop in prices and a reduction in imports, as evidence of the president’s effective leadership.
“We have a president who is clearly in the driver’s seat, staying the course on the decisions he has taken,” Dare asserted. “His goal is to look back at the end of his first term and say, ‘I have impacted the lives of Nigerians. I have turned this economy around.’ That’s what matters to him, not the politics of 2027.”
As Nigeria navigates a critical period of economic transformation, Tinubu’s unwavering focus on policy over politics signals a leader determined to prioritize the nation’s progress above all else. With the 2027 elections looming on the horizon, the president’s commitment to delivering shared prosperity for Nigerians remains his defining mission.
