President Bola Tinubu has lauded his longtime ally and former Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, as the celebrated legal luminary turns 68.
Tinubu message is contained in a Statehouse press release, issued March 8, 2025, highlighting the enduring bond between the two political heavyweights, despite their brief rivalry during the 2023 presidential primaries.
President Tinubu reminisced about their shared history, recalling Osinbajo’s pivotal role as Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice during his tenure as Lagos State governor.
Together, they championed groundbreaking political and judicial reforms that reshaped the state’s governance landscape.
The President also praised Osinbajo’s exemplary service as Vice President under former President Muhammadu Buhari, describing him as a “patriotic and harmonious” leader who delivered critical infrastructural projects and upheld the principles of good governance. Tinubu particularly highlighted Osinbajo’s competence during his brief stint as Acting President while Buhari was on medical leave in the UK.
Despite their 2023 political contest for the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential ticket, Tinubu emphasised that their friendship remains unshaken. He commended Osinbajo for exercising his democratic right to contest, calling him a “friend, brother, and associate” who continues to inspire pride within the APC.
As Osinbajo marks his 68th birthday, President Tinubu extended warm wishes to the former Vice President, his wife Dolapo, and their children, praying for many more years of health, success, and impactful achievements.
