The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has informed the public of an upcoming power interruption affecting several areas in Abuja on Saturday, 17 May 2025.
A statement by Ndidi Mbah, General Manager of Public Affairs at TCN, explained that the outage, scheduled from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, was necessary to allow engineers to conduct routine preventive maintenance on the 60MVA TR2 transformer at Kukwaba Transmission Substation.
During this seven-hour period, the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) will be unable to supply electricity to multiple locations including Wuye, Utako, parts of Jabi, Idu Railway Station, EFCC headquarters, Federal Medical Centre, Baze University, Nile University, Coca-Cola plant, Citec Estate, Idu Industrial Area, Kuchigoro, and Karomajiji.
TCN assured residents that power will be restored immediately upon completion of the maintenance work. The company apologised for any inconvenience caused and explained this proactive measure helps maintain grid stability and prevent unexpected power failures.
Affected customers are advised to make necessary arrangements for the temporary outage.
