A Civil Society Organization, Empowerment For Unemployed Youth initiative (EUYI) has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over the appointment of Comrade Solomon Adodo, a former President of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) into the board of the North Central Development Commission (NCDC).
The EUYI said Adodo is a brilliant head and capable hand and that the appointment once again demonstrates the President’s love and faith in the youth of this country.
EUYI noted his role as the pioneer National Coordinator of Empowerment for Unemployed Youth Initiative (EUYI) where he made advocacy and solution provision to the Unemployed and underemployed Nigerian youth a matter of frontline national discourse.
In a statement made available to newsmen on Wednesday and signed by both the EUYI’s national coordinator, Comrade Danesi Momoh and its national secretary, Comrade Igwe Ude-umanta, stressed that the young people and the rural communities will surely feel the impact of the NCDC because the core values which Adodo represents is youth inclusion and the defence of the poor.
“This appointment gives him the opportunity to take his years-long work for humanity to a greater height through the NCDC. We must equally acknowledge and thank very profusely, His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio GCON, President of the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, not just for his role in making this appointment to materialise, but more for providing mentorship for Adodo and numerous young leaders in Nigeria. Just like Mr. President himself, Distinguished Senator Akpabio is a firm believer in the abilities of young people. We appreciate him.
“We therefore congratulate our pioneer National Coordinator, the President of NYCN, our friend, colleague and comrade-in-arms, His Youthfulness, Comrade Solomon Adodo. His appointment is very well deserved.
The statement also called on members of the FCT stakeholders assembly who are aggrieved over the appointment to sheathe their swords in the interests of the common progress of the youth constituency and the APC led government.
“Furthermore, we seize this opportunity to address the mischief championed by a so called FCT Stakeholders Assembly which is said to be led by one Aliyu Kwali. While we know that their ranting cannot change the right and correct state of affairs as we have with this appointment, we must equally advise him and his co travellers that everybody in the FCT must not get appointment one day. If indeed he worked for the ruling party, he should work harder, pray to God and wait like others. He and his cohorts do not need to launch a campaign of lies against the elevated. What do they mean by the sentiment that Adodo is from Benue and not the FCT? Where are their facts thereto? They should drink a chilled glass of water, because this is one appointment in which almost the entire country are united in approval and applause.
“How can a few persons gather and claim ownership of the FCT and decide those who are from the FCT or not? How else does one become a bona fide citizen of FCT extraction if they are born in the FCT, work, live, vote and pay their taxes there? These guys are really a bunch of comedians. But there should be a limit these kinds of exaggerated joke. They should get something serious to do with their lives,” the statement added.
