…predicts victory for APC in 2027
The Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, has said that the leading politicians at the center of the push to forge a coalition to challenge President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027, were once allied to the President and that he knows them well, which will make it difficult for them to stop his reelection bid.
According to the minister, these people are acting out of impatience because at a time they said he (Tinubu) was the best.
Onyejeocha made these remarks during a recent interview with Spear News at her office in Abuja, where she underscored the advantages of the Labour Employment and Empowerment Programme (LEEP) – an initiative she developed to generate millions of jobs for the nation’s youth.
The LEEP scheme was launched last month by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, fulfilling his Independence Day commitment to deliver sustainable jobs and human capital development for Nigeria’s young population, through the LEEP initiative.
She emphasised that it was to early to be talking about the 2027 general elections when there is so much to do premised on the back of the Renewed Hope Agenda and that the president’s focused performance would be sufficient to earn him a smooth reelection.
She said, ” What do you mean by coalition? Everybody that has been talking about coalition has at one time or the other been with Mr. President and he knows all of them very well. And at a time they said he was the best for the country, are they saying what they said before doesn’t exist anymore.”
“One thing about politics is that, when people become desperate and take politics as a matter of do and die, they resort to doing all sorts of things, but I remain convinced that the ultimate decision remains with God, who gives power to whom ever he wants according to His Devin will”.
“Forming a coalition is not as easy as they speak of it. These people are known by Nigerians, so there is nothing new about these coalition talk.
“The idea actually works in our favour. Their early start gives our party ample time to identify and address certain things. Ultimately, it will motivate us to redouble our efforts in delivering tangible benefits for the Nigerian people.”
Speaking further, Enyejeocha said the President will not only win the 2027 election but would set an enviable precedent and handover to someone who would be accepted by Nigerians and who would build on the foundation he has laid.
“President Tinubu will win and by God’s grace he will even handover to someone who would build on his foundation. The will make mistake. We all know the circumstances around the president’s ascension to power, the naira redesign saga and the immediate circumstances of governance he had to confront in his first days of power.
“The President inherited serious economic problems. It takes real courage to make tough choices like ending fuel subsidies and floating the naira – decisions others avoided for years.”
“So this are the issues Nigerians are not taking into considerations, the persistent insecurity, when farmer couldn’t access their farms, but the situation is now different and progressing, Enyejeocha added.
