The Edo State Government has said that it would leave no stone unturned in ensuring that the perpetrators of the brutal murder of Benin-based realtor and businessman, Mr. Joel Umwueni Isibor are apprehended and brought to justice.
Speaking on a condolence visit to the home of Mr Isibor, the governor represented by his deputy, Rt. Hon. Dennis Idahosa, expressed sorrow over the senseless killing, describing it as a loss of a vibrant, young entrepreneur whose life was cut short by criminal elements.
He said his administration would not tolerate acts of criminality, warning those involved in crimes to steer clear of the state or face the full wrath of the law.
He further disclosed that the state government, in collaboration with security agencies, would launch a full-scale investigation to uncover the circumstances surrounding the killing, emphasizing that justice would be swift and certain.
“We are committed to using the full weight of the law to deal decisively with criminals and their sponsors,” Idahosa stated, assuring the bereaved family of the government’s unwavering support during this difficult time.
Responding on behalf of the family, Mrs. Joel Isibor, widow of the deceased, thanked the state government for its prompt show of solidarity. She described her husband’s death as a heinous crime, recounting that the assailants ambushed him as he was closing his shop for the day, shooting him without provocation and leaving without stealing anything—suggesting a carefully orchestrated assassination.
Mrs. Isibor, visibly distraught, appealed to the government to ensure a thorough investigation, noting that her husband was the family’s breadwinner and that his loss has left them devastated.
