Senator Shehu Buba Umar, representing Bauchi South Senatorial District, has donated N27.5 million to support infrastructure improvements at Markazi Ahlissunnah Wal Jama’a Islamic School in Madugu Village, Rimin Zayam, Toro Local Government Area.
The announcement was made during the school’s Qur’anic graduation ceremony held on its premises. The senator stated that he had selected two key projects from the school’s request—constructing a mosque and toilet facilities at a cost of N25 million. Additionally, he donated N2 million to the graduating students and ₦500,000 to a teacher who composed a song in his honour.
A total of 32 students graduated from the school, with nine having memorised the entire Holy Qur’an, while the remaining 23 learned to recite the 60 Hizb of the Qur’an.
Senator Buba emphasised the importance of both learning and embodying the teachings of the Holy Qur’an. He congratulated the graduates, their parents, and teachers on this significant achievement and encouraged them to expand their knowledge beyond religious studies.
He said he is always happy with the performance of the School , ” I am integral part of this school and I am happy every two years we came here to graduate pupils from this school that memorised the Holy Quran or those that learned how to recite the 60 Hizb of the Quran , I am always proud to be associated with the school and its achievement.”
He prayed for Allah’s reward mercy and blessings upon the teachers of the School for their sacrifice and contributions to education and humanity.
Bauchi State Governor Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed pledged to complete the remaining classrooms needed in the school and fence the School with wall.
Represented by the State Commissioner of Education Dr Mohamed Ahmed Rimin Zayam reaffirmed his dedication to education and Qur’anic memorisation and the growth and empowerment of the local community.
The katukan Bauchi District Head of Toro Alhaji Umar Adamu Toro expressed gratitude on behalf of the parents and school authorities. He commended Bauchi State Governor Senator Shehu Buba for their commitment to supporting education in the state.
The event underscored the governor’s focus on promoting both religious and formal education as a cornerstone of development in the State.”
The Qur’an graduation ceremony was held in grand style as community leaders, dignitaries, and well-wishers gathered to celebrate the 32 graduating students and support the school’s mission of Islamic education.
Topping the list of contributors AYM shafa who also pledged to build one block of classroom, Dr Abdullahi Dabo 250,000, Dr Mohamed Ahmed Rimin Zayam, N200,000
Other significant donations came from HonourablebDano Isma’ila Haruna member of the House of Representatives, who contributed N200,000.
